A Beautiful Autumn in Austin…Part 2

I just have to follow-up on yesterday’s post.  I had the opportunity to go to Austin a few days in November and babysit my two grandchildren.  It was so fun and I experienced first had the colorful trees.  We live a little north of Dallas and we too had an unusually beautiful fall.  It was just about as pretty as it gets for Texas.  Anyway, while in Austin, I took a few adorable pictures of my grandchildren playing in the leaves and I just had to share them. enjoy!

IMG_4424 We went on a very impromptu trip to San Antonio the day after Christmas.  Our daughter, Holly, and her husband thought it would be fun to take their two kids and for us all to go spend the night and enjoy the River Walk, the Mexican Market, More

The Palm of my Hand

I recently had a kitchen accident that required a visit to Care Now for five stitches on the palm of my left hand. So now, every time I glance at my palm I see  the new scar.  In time it will fade, but I was recently reminded of how God’s love for me will never fade.  When I look at my palm, I am reminded of a painful experience, but I like to think when Jesus looks at His palms, He not only sees pain, He also sees sacrifice and love…the sacrifice and love He gave to me on the cross.  My sweet daughter recently gave me a wonderful gift as a thank you for keeping her children so she and her husband could get away.  I was delighted that it was More

31 Days: Let’s Just Be Honest Day 21: Busy! Busy! Busy!

They are a few days shy of being 3 years apart.  No, we didn’t do it on purpose … it just happened.  So we’re in the midst of parties and birthdays and trying to love them well.  We have a few birthday traditions including going out for dinner wherein the birthday person gets to pick the place for dinner.  This year another tradition starts … using this plate all day.  I like this plate and what it reads.

31 Days: Let’s Just Be Honest Day 19: Go Have Fun!

It’s Saturday!!!! YAY!!!  Let’s Just Be Honest: Sometimes I need to remind myself to just go have fun.  Funny isn’t it?  Well, I wanted to remind you to do that today.  Go with your friends or roommates or kids or family and do something fun.  Walk into Party City and try on their fun sunglasses and look at Halloween costumes.

31 Days: Let’s Just Be Honest Day 5: It Didn’t Happen

Let’s just be honest yesterday’s post didn’t happen.

I started to write in the morning and then was joined in bed by my littlest. Which was fun at first and I did get a little bit more done, but then bickering ensued and I got overwhelmed by how much I need to get done in a short period of time, so I stopped writing!

I pick it back up after work, but was having some computer problems. I’m not great with computers, and I think it was just my Internet being slow because I couldn’t upload a picture I wanted to use. Either way it didn’t happen. So we’ll just be honest about that and move on!!

31 Days: Let’s Just Be Honest Day 4: Guacamole

Let’s Just Be Honest … I love Guacamole.  More than that … I love this one particular guacamole recipe.  I love it soooo much that I make it just about once a week.   Here it is:

5 I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide;

I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”;

And you forgave the guilt of my sin

This, right here, is the beauty of having a personal relationship with God.  More

Are you looking upon summer with excitement? or dread?

This is our first full week of summer.  My daughter’s last day of school was last Wednesday.  Monday – Wednesday were just crazy and so were Thursday and Friday, even though school was out!

photo-2Our first full week is upon us.  And you know what?  …. I’m excited!  I really am.

When my daughter finished kindergarten and we went into summer (with my children being 6 and 3) I was nervous, to say the least.  I needed a plan.  What were we going to do? How do I keep them from fighting?  How do I talk to them about their hearts and Jesus all the time? How do I not just ‘waste’ these 2 ½ months?  How do I shop and do laundry and all the house stuff with both of them home again?  I felt as though I’d totally lost my compass!!! Or my marbles!!!!
