The Source of our Love

Do you remember falling in love?  The Butterflies?  The Nervous Feeling?  The Continual Happiness?  The Thoughts of your New Found Love?  Now, do you remember that fading???  Real love is so much more than the superficial feelings we have when we first fell in love.  Love truly does grow and deepen as we spend more time and discover each other on a deeper level.  Today I want to visit abouthow we learn to love.  In order to do this, we have to look to the origin and source of love, God:

    • HE is love
    • HE gives us the ability to love
    • HE loves us when we are unlovable
    • HE loves us w/ compassion-kindness-mercy-grace-patience-forgiveness
    • HE loves us with a holy love
    • HE is our example

We love our husbands’ b/c God loves us unconditionally.  He abides in us & His love is perfected through us.

  • Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (I John 4:7-10)
  • We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. (I John 4:16)
  • and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:5-8)
  • So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.  (Col 3:12-14)

So, next blog, let’s try to figure out how to put some of this great love into action in our daily lives & while wading through our busy schedules of mothering, volunteering, shopping & cleaning!  I will divide this into 3 areas:

1.     WHAT MAKES HIM TICK? & how to encourage him in this area

2.     WHAT TICKS HIM OFF? & how to shelter him from these irritants

3.     WHAT TICKLES HIM?  & how to treat him to the fun and funny things in life
