Dear Tech Support

I love technology, but I really do not understand technology.  I so depend on my husband and kids to keep me headed in the right direction:)  Although it may not seem like this is the second part of my blog on Loving Your Husbands with all this talk about technology, it really is.  It was about 8-9 years ago when I presented this talk to a women’s group in Houston and technology has definitely changed in those years so this opening illustration is a bit dated.  Still, I think it is priceless and something we can all relate to as we look back on those first years of marriage.  This was actually sent to me by my daughter, Holly and I  have no clue who the original author was because I would love to give credit. Sorry, but I hope you enjoy…

Dear Tech Support:

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in the overall performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5; and then installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0, NHL 4.3, MLB 3.0, and NBA 3.6. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, to no avail.
What can I do?

Frustrated and Desperate

Dear Frustrated & Desperate:

First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an Operating System. Try to enter the command: C:/ITHOUGHTYOULOVEDME" to download Tears 6.2, which should automatically install Guilt 3.0. If that application works as designed, husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. But remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0, or Beer 6.1.

WARNING: Beer 6.1 is a very nasty program that will create Snoring Loudly.

CAUTION: Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-law 1.0 or reinstall another Boyfriend program. These are not supported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. I personally recommend Hot Food 3.0 and Lingerie 7.7.

Good Luck!

  • Truly, next to your relationship with Jesus the next most important relationship is the loving, delightful, challenging relationship you share with your husband.
  • My desire is that we can all view our husbands the way one of my younger friends does.  In her Christmas letter, from that year, she writes:
      •   “When we found out our 3rd child would be a boy, it was a great thought that the world would have another clone of their father.  I hope they all (three) turn out just like him.  He is God’s richest blessing to this family, but especially to me.  He makes raising three boys a true delight.  The boys literally chase him down the street when he leaves for work everyday.  His famous quote this past year:  “Boys, remember we wrestle with Daddy, Mommies are precious.”
  • In Titus 2:3-4, Paul speaks of older women teaching younger…verse 4 says “that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children.”  The “love” Paul speaks of here is taken  from the Greek “phileo”.  It is a tender, affectionate, cherishing, companionship type of love.  So how can we effectively love and cherish our husbands as scripture calls us to do and as my friend  so obviously does?

We will take that up in the next blog on how to love our husbands when we look at God as the origin and source of our love.  Then we will get into some practical tips so…stay tuned.
