“The great thing about getting older is that you don’t lose all the other ages you’ve been.” Madeleine L’Engle

I love this quote.  We have a very special birthday in our family later this month.  It’s one of those birthday’s that end with a zero, you know, one of the “Big Ones”.  The special day just happens to belong to my daughter-in-love.  Of course there is a lot of pressure on her to celebrate well because she will be the first of our kids and their spouses to hit this big one.  No pressure Kathleen!  She does not want a big deal made out of her birthday, just a family celebration and then a night out with her husband.  When those big birthdays come around,it’s hard not to feel the reality of time passing and that is why I love this quote.  It reminds me that no matter how many birthdays God gives us on this earth, we can take those memories, experiences and valuable lessons learned on to the next year.  Aging may seem bittersweet at times, but the wisdom we gain through the years is a great reward and gift and we can use those years as building blocks to the future.  I hope Kathleen learns to love those “zero” birthdays and treasure the wisdom gained from the past ten years.  We love you Kathleen:)
