Books on Prayer

Do you have books on prayer that you love? I have a few that I just keep handy and use a lot. Two of them are by Stormie O’Martin: The Power of a Praying Wife and The Power of a Praying Mother.

To be honest, sometimes in my prayer life, I run out of words.  I want to pray for my husband, my marriage, and my children, but I don’t know what to pray for.  Most all I know is what the need of the moment is and to pray for what our struggles are.  That’s great and all, but I also want to give vision to my marriage through prayer and pray for protection.  They give me words and scripture to pray when my brain isn’t working and can’t think of the words!  They are also great spring boards for me starting my own conversation with God about a certain topic.  These are great books …  I really, really love them!

Another book I really love is: Beyond All You could Ask or Think by Ray Pritchard.

In this book, Pritchard uses prayers from the Apostle Paul as models for our own.  I don’t know about you, but I love praying scripture.  There is something about me praying the inspired word of God that is powerful and fulfilling.  It allows me to flush out my own hearts desires and untruths that have clouded my thinking when I am aligning my prayers with His Word.  It also gives me a bigger vision and focus instead of me just mulling my problems over and over.

Do you have books on prayer that you really like?  What are they?  What do you love about them?

I love The Power of a Praying Wife too. I think Beth Moore might have one on praying scripture-we need to check that out. Family Life has a card I got somewhere that is called “Lifting My Husband Through Prayer” I really like too. I bet we can find it on their website. 🙂

YES! In addition to all of these wonderful recommendations, my very most favorite book on prayer is “The Praying Life” by Miller (can’t remember his first name, just look on Amazon). Has absolutely transformed my prayer life. Love it! Thanks for another great post, Holly!
