Mommy-hood

Do you ever have those moments where you are just struck (in a good way … not in a lightning bolt way!) and grateful to be a mom or a dad?  Unfortunately, those moments seem rare.  I’m often focused on what to do today or what I didn’t get done today or anything in-between and I’m not walking around in an attitude of gratefulness over being a mom or even a stay at home mom.

Luckily, I had one of those moments today.  It came over me like a flood of rushing water racing down a stream.  I was hugging my 2nd grader and talking to her about how I was going to come eat lunch with her at school today and it just hit me.  I’m so blessed to be able to do that with her.  I’m so thankful for that.

What are you thankful for?  Are you allowing time in your schedule to be grateful?  Let’s do that together, today … shall we?

So grateful that you were able to do that too.

Love this, Holly! Gratitude has been something I have been convicted of lately – of not having enough of. I realize that when I spend time thanking God each and every day for the little things and the big things – I am quicker to recognize how much He is truly at work in my life! I’ve recently started a journal of a “Thank You God for…” list. It’s been wonderful. I try to do it every night before I go to bed. Sometimes, on a hard day, it’s just saying, “Thank you for the rain” or “Thank you for food, shelter and clothes.” 🙂 But on other days, as I start writing out the blessings, they just keep coming to mind. One after another. I’ve heard that it was said, until you express your thanks verbally (or written), it’s not truly thanks. There are SO many passages in Scripture that call us to be thankful. I think I see why – it is ultimately good for our soul! We recognize how good our Maker is and how He delights in lavishing us with His blessings. Thank you for reminding me to keep my gratitude journal going. 🙂
