A Daily Need for Help

In my first post on Hiding, I mentioned briefly, ‘I use to hide all the time’ … well, truth be told, I still hide.  All the time.  I really try to be aware of it.  I pray about it.

Jesus help me see how I’m hiding.
Lord, why does food seem soooo enticing right now … I feel like that’s all I crave.

I rely on Him to show me how I hide … to lead me to see how I’m choosing to cope with life without Him … by hiding;   by relying on other things besides His cross for the daily redemption (deliverance, rescue) of my soul.

In my first post, I also mentioned that ‘this is real life and grace is extended through Jesus’ dying on the cross.’  This is the essential part to the ‘daily redemption of my soul’.

I do truly believe we can be ourselves and that we don’t have to hide.  But the ONLY  way we are able to totally be ourselves and not hide is to recognize that we are 100% fully accepted.

Now wait, … did you just say 100% fully accepted?  I’ve never been 100% fully accepted in my life, ever for anything or by anyone!

I know.  It’s hard, isn’t it.  I’d never been 100% fully accepted either.  Until I realized this:  The all-knowing, all-powerful, Creator of everything, God of the universe … He created me.

He. created. me.

He (Big, huge, amazing God), knit me together in my mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13).  He knows the hairs on my head, He knows my ways and my thoughts and my words … before I even say them. (Oh! Really?! My thoughts?! My words?! Those are the things that I really try to hide from, or at least hide from others … I don’t want anyone knowing my thoughts!)  Well, He knows them.  All of them.  Before we even think them.

And He still loves and accepts us, despite our sin.    Have you ever read Ephesians 2?  I love it.  It is probably my favorite chapter in the bible.  Verses 1-3 talk about how wicked we really are apart from God and how much we need Him.  And verses 4-5 say:

‘But God, being rich in mercy,
because of His great love with which He loved us,
even when we were dead in our sins, made us alive together with Christ
(by grace you have been saved)’.

God loves us so much that He saves us (from all this crap and yuckiness that we live in) and gives us ‘abundant life’ (John 10:10).  We don’t have to hide from a God who chooses to love us no matter what.  If He loves and accepts us 100% all the time … why do we choose to hide?

Friends, we don’t have to!  We don’t have to hide!

My prayer for us today, beloved, is that we can fully accept that you are 100% fully accepted no matter what, all the time.  And that we don’t have to hide anymore.

‘And I pray that you, may have power, to grasp
how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,
Ephesians 3:17-18

Great post Holly! As I was walking around outside, just a moment ago I kind of thought about this. There was a cool breeze, and it made me think of this verse, “They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day,” How I can walk around in the cool breeze, and the Lord is walking with me, and I don’t have to do what Adam & Eve did…”and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.” Through Christ we don’t have to hide from our Heavenly Father, and we can have intimate relationship.
