It’s Friday

So, technically, I should have posted this yesterday … since yesterday was Good Friday and today is Saturday.  Yesterday really was a good friday for me.  You wouldn’t have thought so if you were a fly on the wall here.  I’ll give you a peek into my yesterday:  I have strep…a killer sore throat, fever, the whole bit.  I missed the dying of the easter eggs with my family, because of the fever and just plain feeling miserable.  I just laid in bed watching them sit around the kitchen table having so much fun.  My 3-year-old cut my finger open with a brand new pair of scissors … poor thing, he felt awful!  My 6-year-old struggled with a bad muscle cramp.  But  through all this, it was amazing because I had a great day.  Jesus brought about an eternal, beyond-our-earthly-circumstances joy and enjoyment to my day.

My usual M.O. is to get angry and frustrated and controlling and impatient … but amazingly, in my sickness, I let go.  I sat back and let the Holy Spirit take control… of my heart and mind and emotions.  God was gracious to fulfill Philippians 4:6-7 in my life yesterday and He gave me a “peace that surpasses all comprehension” and it guarded my “heart and mind in Christ Jesus”.    It was great!!!

Then last night, our family sat around a fire out back, making s’mores and we talked about the crucifixion of Christ with our children.   It was glorious.  Jesus has taken the penalty for my sin.  He endured so much pain, so that I could be rescued back to Him.  What a glorious thing.

I ran across this video depicting the events of Good Friday, including the crucifixion and I enjoyed watching it.  I enjoyed it in the since that it is so good for me to be reminded of all that He went through for my freedom; that I was  bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:20).  As you watch … Repent.  Name your ugly sins that He was crucified for.  Remember that His dying on the cross was sufficient (1 Peter 3:18) and that now you can walk away from that in Holiness (2 Corinthians 5:17).    This video is graphic.
