Did you watch the Royal Wedding?

Most little girls grow up reading and dreaming of being a princess and I was no different.  I actually love all the tradition and fanfare, the unbelievable hats, the formality that the Brits have that the Americans have lost.  I love the romance and the happily ever after endings.  Wasn’t Catherine just stunning?  Prince William looked nervous and I love how Catherine held so tightly to her daddy’s More

Psalm 46:1-3

Beloved, please pause to listen to his word.   Linger … its words on your tongue, in your head and in your heart.  Then lift up a voice in prayer.

“GOD is our refuge and strength,

A very present help in trouble.

Therefore, we WILL NOT FEAR, though the earth should change

And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;

Though its waters roar and foam,

Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.”

Who is your refuge?

To what or whom do you run when you need a ‘very present help’? Is it our gracious heavenly Father … who is ‘compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness’? (Psalm 103:8).  If not … may I lovingly ask, why?

What do you fear?

Do you trust God with that fear? Have you told Him about your fears?  Did you know that ‘God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power and love and discipline’? (2 Timothy 1:7).  Did you now that Jesus’ dying on the cross took care of that fear and takes care of you still? 1 John 4:18 says “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear.”  God is the only one who has perfect, unconditional love.  Accept that love from Him and give Him your fears.

Pause. Linger on His word.  Lift up your voice in prayer.

Now go; walk in freedom, friend.

It’s Friday

So, technically, I should have posted this yesterday … since yesterday was Good Friday and today is Saturday.  Yesterday really was a good friday for me.  You wouldn’t have thought so if you were a fly on the wall here.  I’ll give you a peek into my yesterday:   More

A Man of Faith

“Though the fig tree should not blossom and there be no fruit on the vines, though the field of the olive should fail and the fields produce no food, though the flock should be cut off from the fold and there be no cattle in the stalls, yet I will exult in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.  The Lord God is my strength, and He has made my feet like hinds feet, and makes me walk on my high places.” 3:17-19

Habakkuk was a prophet that from what I researched there was little known about.  Three things are apparent; one, he loved his people, two he was distressed over Judah’s sin and three, More

Chili for dinner!!!

I know, I know … it’s 74 degrees outside right now … but tonight it’s suppose to get down to 45 and I feel like I need to get one more chili meal in before this Texas Summer is upon us … (which seems to be creeping in all to fast, don’t ya think?!)

Chili reminds me of my dad ;). He made the best chili growing up.  When I got married and actually started cooking for myself (a little late, I know! My poor husband … he stomached a LOT of really bad meals!).  I found out then that my daddy’s chili came from a box! hehe.  And you know what, I could care less!!!!  It was still my dad’s chili and I could buy the box at the store and make it just the same way! I still love that!

After not being in Austin too long, Michael found an a.m.a.z.i.n.g place to eat called the Texas Chili Parlor.  The chili there is amazing…I mean really to die for.  There are hunks of steak in there.  It’s great.  Every time!!!  If you like chili and come to Austin, you’ve got to go to the Texas Chili Parlor!!!!  I can’t believe I’ve actually never taken my dad and mom there!!!!  Maybe I can talk them into it this weekend when they come in for a visit.

Enjoy the 45 degrees tonight, Austinites!  I’m not sure we’ll be feeling that again for a while!  And if you want some good, semi-quick chili … go to HEB and buy you a box of Wick Fowler’s Famous All Natural 2 alarm chili kit.  You’ll never regret it!!! 😉

April Fools

OK, so my daughter was an encouragement for me to post again.  I guess we were taking a winter slumber or something the past couple of months:)  So I was thinking, it is APRIL and today is April Fools and that leads to rattlesnake eggs.  Have you ever seen rattlesnake eggs? More
