As young mothers we often feel the need for some “alone” time, time to relax, unwind, spend a few minutes focusing on ourselves and our own needs. Selfish? I really don’t think so because those times can be times of renewal and re-energizing. I, on the other hand, don’t need alone time from raising children, but as an introvert I need some time away from people when things get really hectic and I feel I have too much on my plate. Even with the most extroverted people, I have seen the need for an occasional brief retreat from the world. But what about the people who are alone and really feeling alone? You know, the feelings of pain, separation, even desperation at times. That’s when it is so important to remember that we are truly never alone. God is always with us through the Holy Spirit living in us. He will never leave or forsake us, He will lift us up, He knows ourthoughts, when we rise up, what we think… Psalm 139:1-5
O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
You understand my thought from afar.
3 You scrutinize my path and my lying down,
And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
4 Even before there is a word on my tongue,
Behold, O Lord, You know it all.
5 You have enclosed me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
Alone, yes for reflection, meditation, rest, peace…but never ALONE. Keep your heart focused on Him and His constant comfort.
