A Daily Need for Help

In my first post on Hiding, I mentioned briefly, ‘I use to hide all the time’ … well, truth be told, I still hide.  All the time.  I really try to be aware of it.  I pray about it.

Jesus help me see how I’m hiding.
Lord, why does food seem soooo enticing right now … I feel like that’s all I crave. More

World Gratitude Day

I had no clue, but I just read that today is World Gratitude Day.  That’s awesome. As a believer, I am full of gratitude for what Christ has done for me.  I so want to display His glory and share with others the sweetness He alone can give.  A few things  I have gratitude  for from my list of blessings are More

Why are you hiding?

I’m going to start this post off by using an excerpt from another blog I follow (and LOVE!) …

Some women are afraid of me sometimes simply because I’m the pastor’s wife. To them, I represent a spiritual Big Brother, the woman looking into their souls, evaluating them next to the impossible checklist of the correct, perfect, churchy standards of the good Christian girl.

I sense the hiding, the pressure women feel. They cover over the deep parts of who they are, even the stories of God’s grace in their lives because the grace has washed over shameful sin that seems best unspoken.

I know this hiding has little to do with me and everything to do with how women feel about themselves or how women perceive that God feels about them. They cannot fully believe that doing good or being good is not part of the whole grace equation. They certainly find it risky to reveal themselves to other women because, unfortunately, grace is so often withheld in church circles.  I know this because I am one who has hid.

Just like Christine I use to hide all the time.  I usually hid behind pride.  More

Autumn Pumpkin Spice Muffins

I woke up on September 1st and the high that day was 101.  But it was September 1st, by golly and I was going to put my Autumn wreath out!!!  I did.  It made me feel better.

By the 5th, the high was only 91!  That was glorious.  I was actually able to put my patio furniture to good use!  It was sensational to sit out back of a morning and even quite nice to sit outside at 5pm that afternoon as the children played outside.

For now, we’re still in a great weather pattern …  highs only in the mid 90′s for the next 4 days!!!

I love Autumn.  I think it is my favorite time of year.  We had 80 days over 100 degrees this summer (and what seems like every summer, now-a-days)! I get so excited for autumn, the change in color, the change in weather and eating pumpkin-everything!  So with excitement, I share an amazingly easy and scrumptious Pumpkin Spice muffin recipe for you!

Pumpkin Spice Muffins

1/2 cup applesauce
1 can pumpkin
1 box spice cake mix
1 egg

Mix all together until blended. Place batter in muffin cups and bake at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes

Enjoy!
